The map needs to take a turn toward interesting if Riot wants players to keep enjoying it. While some teams do experiment with Viper, Harbor, Astra, Reyna, and Skye, most pro-Ascent games in recent times have been recording mirror comps and predictable styles. In esports, players are tired of seeing the same old team composition-Jett, Sova, KAY/O, Omen, and Killjoy-on Ascent. It isn’t exactly a bad map, in my opinion, but it has been nurturing a stale meta, which definitely calls for a rework. There are two sites and one large neutral mid-area that connects both. The uniqueness of Ascent is that it has no game-changing gimmicks. While VALORANT has a reputation for adding unique flavors and concepts to every one of its maps, Ascent is different. Launched in Episode One, Act One, Ascent is an iconic map, best known for its paper-thin structures and for popularizing the Sova-Odin meta. Ascent’s Simplistic Map Design and Agent Choices. “Please keep Haven and take out that shitty, mirror comp piece of one dimensional ass cheeks of a map Ascent right now,” NAVI content creator SoMarcus’ tweet, among several other anti-Ascent tweets and Reddit comments, reads. Hopefully on icebox they adjusted mid and B so it feels new - dapr December 29, 2023Įxpectedly, almost every player in the community echoed Zander’s opinion. 5/5 Reyna HUH?s.Taking out a map that has been seeing meta shifts constantly instead of a map where the main comp was still played even during chamber era (ascent) No, I hate this map with a passion, and I wish it was out of the map pool forever. Instead of rotating or controlling a mid-section, they just threw in teleporters?!?! How do we have an incomplete map this late in the game’s life? Riot forgot to add a middle section to this map. The biggest problem I have with Bind, other than the teleporter, is that THERE IS NO MID. It’s coarse, and rough, and irritating, and it gets everywhere. There are two trap doors which are brand new mechanics to the world of VALORANT. Controlling middle on this map is the most important objective for both teams to have any success with taking or defending sites. I hate the chokes, especially Hookah making me jump out of a window onto site. The VALORANT map Ascent is a two site map featuring tight alley ways, claustrophobic boxy areas and a mid lane that requires dominance. But guys, I have something to say: I think Bind is the worst map in Valorant.Įver since I started playing the game, I’ve hated Bind. Tiap lokasi bisa diperkuat dengan pintu bom yang tak bisa dibalikkan setelah terpasang, kamu harus menghancurkannya atau mencari jalan lain. Especially with the new changes to make it a better experience, players are welcoming it back with open arms (especially since it will be replacing the much-hated Icebox). Sebuah tempat bermain terbuka untuk perang kecil memperebutkan posisi dan baku tembak membelah kedua lokasi di Ascent. I’ve seen a lot of people excited about Bind coming back into the map pool. But can’t Defender Spawn just be on the other side of Attacker Spawn instead of in Mid? Why are there two sides to enter on each Spike site? There are too many entrances to cover. Having an unorthodox setup is fun, but it could be frustrating to play on this map because of how different it is compared to the rest of the map pool. If you just want to play Valorant on a normal map and you see Fracture in the loading screen, it can be an awful blow. But other times, it can get in the way of gameplay. Sometimes that can be a fun map to play on, to switch it up once and a while. This is why Fracture’s worst aspect is the entire map it is just too gimmicky.įracture exists only because it is quirky and different. It’s one of the most popular maps amongst high level. The entire map layout was a gimmick and people were either excited to try it out or loathed having to endure a match on it. Ascent is one of the few maps in VALORANT that has never left the active duty map pool and has never received any major structural changes. Fracture drew a lot of eyes upon release due to how unorthodox it was. Overall, I like this map a lot and I don’t think the bad aspects of this map take away any joy from playing on it, which is why B Site and a thin defensive line only earn Haven 2/5 Reyna HUH?s. It is easy to rotate early on this map since you want to go help as quickly as possible, but rotating on this map is perilous since it offers a lot of space for lurkers to work with. It doesn’t offer great cover and a team needs to be coordinated to lock down the many paths leading to B Site.Īnother nitpick I have is that since it features 3 sites and feels so large, your defense will be stretched thin at the start of the round. It is really hard to control and hold post-plant when planting on B Site. B Site is nice to fall back on when your team’s first plan of attack fails, but that’s pretty much it. But, if I had to nitpick, I’d say that B Site isn’t a feasible first option to attack. One of the original Valorant maps and the first map to feature 3 Spike sites, Haven has a lot of fans.
